MicroDrive Privacy Policy

Data We Process

• Location and speed: MicroDrive uses your device location and available speed information to show your position, plan routes, provide turn-by-turn guidance and trigger speed alerts. Location may continue to be used while active navigation is running.
• Search and destination data: search queries, destination coordinates and place information are processed through Apple MapKit and Mapbox as needed to search for places and calculate routes.
• Local app data: your vehicle profile, route settings, saved places, recent destinations and trip information are stored locally on your device using the app’s local storage.
• No account or advertising profile: MicroDrive does not require an account and the app code does not include a Bazinga analytics, advertising or social tracking service.

Apple and Mapbox Services

MicroDrive uses Apple’s MapKit and Core Location services for maps, place search and device location. Apple explains the information used by Maps and Location Services in its Maps privacy information and Location Services privacy information.

MicroDrive uses the Mapbox Navigation SDK for route calculation and turn-by-turn navigation. Mapbox may process location and technical data according to its Product Privacy Policy and Location Telemetry information.

Purpose and Legal Basis

• To provide navigation: use location, search and routing services to plan and guide a trip. Legal basis: performance of the service requested by you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• To remember your choices: store vehicle and route preferences locally so the app can use them on future trips. Legal basis: performance of the service requested by you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• To meet legal obligations: respond to lawful requests and maintain records when required. Legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Data Retention

Data stored by MicroDrive locally remains on your device until you remove it, change it, delete the app or the operating system removes it. Recent destinations are limited by the app. Apple and Mapbox retain and process data under their own policies and terms.

Data Sharing

Bazinga Systems does not sell or share MicroDrive data for advertising. Data is sent to Apple and Mapbox only when their services are needed for maps, place search, route calculation or navigation. We do not operate a MicroDrive account or trip-history server.

Data Security

MicroDrive keeps its local app data inside the app’s iOS storage container. Communications with Apple and Mapbox are handled through their services and network security controls. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection, so keep your device and operating system protected.

International Transfers

Because MicroDrive uses Apple and Mapbox services, information needed for those services may be processed in countries where those providers or their partners operate. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and Mapbox’s Product Privacy Policy for their current safeguards and transfer information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when MicroDrive, its data processing or the applicable requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page.
